Week 4: Recognize

Posted on September 20, 2007. Filed under: Uncategorized |

Attached are this week’s matchups and rosters. I allowed Yetti to pick up a kicker because Rutgers is off. Yetti please respond and remind me and everyone who you dropped. The move counts against his total pickups which is now at 5.

Danks your roster is a player short from the draft, so you have a free pick-up.

Another thing that doesn’t need to be discussed, but needs to be brought up is:

Playoffs will be top 2 teams from each division.

Week 1: WVU 1 V Steel City 2
            Steel City 1 v WVU 2
Week 2: Champ and 3rd place game

The remaining teams will play for the 1st pick next year

Week 1: Blue and Gold Bowl: WVU 3 vs Steel City 4
Burgh Bowl: WVU 4 vs Steel City 3

Week 2: Loser vs Loser in Toilet Bowl
Winner vs Winner in #1 Bowl

I thought about doing 3 v 3 and 4 v 4 because it would guarantee that one 4 seed is in the finals but I think this is fine because the league is so small.

Payouts($25 a person=$200)
Champ:$140
2nd: $20
Div Winners:$20

Champ could win $160 if they win their division.

Keeper talk to come. Any questions or comments let me know. If you have better bowl names let me know.

Time to throw in some thav 2 cents. This is not nitpicking as much as it is trying to make this league the best it can possibly be. It’s not my fault I’m the Urban Meyer of Fantasy Sports and Innovations.

I was looking over my team and realized that I have a ton of guys that are off in week 13, or championship week. It’s not like I have players from schools no one else is using, so I’m guessing this would be aproblem for all 8 of us.

At first, I thought, “We should have the 11 game schedule, then just have the top 2 teams play in the ‘BCS’ Championship game. It’d be like College Football and it would end in week 12. Could throw 150 to the champ, 50 to 2nd place.” While I do really really like this in an 8 team college football league, I realize that some people might not like the idea of someone 3-0 suggesting this idea. I would never suggest something to personally benefit myself but I understand.

So then I thought more and realized the 11 game schedule meant playing every team in your division twice, every opponent in the other division once except one of them you’d play twice. That’s 6 division games and 5 non-division games. If we stick to this, since it’s not really unbalanced I think the top 4 overall should advance, not simply 2 from each division. But my proposal actually works out a few ways. I think we should drop the 11th week where we play a non-division foe. 10 week regular season. 6 Division Games, 4 Non-Division Games. Keep what Wells said, with 2 teams from each Division making the 4 team playoff. Playoffs are in Weeks 11 and 12.

I think that really works out well for everyone and everything we’re doing.

I also propose that if we keep to 4 teams making playoffs, we adjust Wells’s payouts just slightly, and have them at $125 for the champ, $25 for runner-up, and $25 to each division winner. I know not a big difference between 20 and 25, but I like the idea of that type of payout being the ole “your money back.”
